From Mack to Baab to Martee. All I've ever heard is what a different game it is. Road trip Bubba :?: :?:

Given the view from my windows of late that looks like some sort of Nirvana! What are all those colors?! :wow:
I've become all too familiar with varying shades of gray and have grown tired of either shoveling or 'snow-blowing' my back deck/practice area. :x

If you are lucky enough to combine desert golf with the likes of mack, baab, darkside, Tap in et al, you have an unforgettable experience
Take it if you can. 8) 8)

I found that the scenery is cool and a distraction for sure.
The game is the same to me.
Only thing that you would need to practice is playing in front of the flag most of the time and picking it clean off hardpan lies.If you can do that, you can score as well as enjoy the background. :D

So much for the digger/diver type.

Get yourself a Desert Club...

Some use a 7 iron others a wedge and some even a hybrid.

The desert is not nice to the clubs, especially pretty ones...

Oh Rule Number 1 - Never leave the fairway without a club in hand... You know not what awaits you.

it's not that hard or that much different (desert golf). The forced carries freak a lot of people out and no it's not "fair" when you hit what seems to be a great tee shot and get penalized for it. Not all courses out here are desert, most of the resort style courses are typical of most everywhere. I guess the major difference is when you go way left or right of your fairway, that's OB and the chances of finding your ball are just a shade past zero and if you do find it, it's most likely OB or you don't have a chance in heck of hitting it (although many try). The ground does get a tad bit hard, fairways too. We don't have real sand, just clay mixed with something else, you can hit from it though. Greens don't hold well in the summer, but hey is 110 out so what do you expect.

If you suck out here, you will suck just about anyplace else, golf is golf. The very best thing about desert golf isn't the course, it's being able to play all your around, that's the best part.

I bet that picture came from a course called "Las Sendas", lots of cactus there with lots of golf ball holes (that and the cactus is a Saguaro, only grows in this desert).

If you live here and play, you have a golf ball cactus story. Witness the picture below. Rumboy witnessed this one LOL. Lone Tree Golf club, hole 17. Big dog leg right, right side has all kinds of nasty stuff. There is a landing area that goes up hill and leaves a good shot into the green (about 170 yards). The end of this landing area is about ~ 280 from the tee box, the back yard in the picture is about 290. If you can hit a left to right ball, perfect! If you hit it straight, not so perfect. So you can see my Pro V1x nestled perfectly on top of a barrel cactus. I knew I hit it well, so did Rumboy but we couldn't find it, Rumboy did and we just looked at each other and said "WTH?! That my friends
, is desert golf.

I love you man

The scenery is awesome when you play out here in the west whether it's in the desert or here in Utah although I like the weather much better in Arizona

Alright, enough already! Arizona... I've been there once when I was in college. Spent some time in Tucson, University of Arizona and Tempe, Arizona State. Here's what I recall (as I wasn't even playing golf at the time): The girls. These gals come from all over the United States. They have one thing in common. They like warmer climates, it seems because they like to wear the clothes appropriate to the weather. That means, little.
Nice place - Arizona.

Oh, and the folks, particularly young gals, are extremely friendly - nothing like the 'great' and sarcastic, post-industrial Northeast. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

One of these days I will venture out west and get a taste of desert golf myself. Looks like a neat experience.
